SAE Education Ltd Granted leave to appeal Following their recent loss in the Court of Appeal SAE Education Ltd has been granted leave to appeal the decision. The Court of Appeal decided that SAE was not a 'college of a university' and therefore its supplies of education were not exempt from VAT. The outcome of this appeal will be important for those universities who work with partners to provide some of their courses to students. If Universities have to charge VAT on such courses this may make them uneconomical. The date of the appeal has not been released yet.
Clearly, this could have wide-ranging ramifications for Educational providers considering similar arrangements.
