Provide an overview of the basic principles of UK VAT, including VAT registration.
Provide an understanding of the UK VAT rules that housing associations must observe.
Give insight into the reliefs that housing associations might be able to use.
Provide an opportunity for case studies and questions and answers.
Content:
VAT is often a source of concern and anxiety for housing associations. This course, presented by Centurion VAT Specialists (National Taxation Awards 2011 Finalists for “Best VAT Team”) aims to demystify the area and build up your basic knowledge of how VAT works and increase your VAT awareness.
The training methods will be presentation led with practical examples and a relaxed approach to allow questions to be asked as issues arise. Jelly beans will also play a role. The round table discussion format encourages participants to share common practical concerns and experiences.

Who is this course for?
Finance staff new to VAT in the housing association sector or in need of a refresher course. Development managers or trustees of housing associations who need a basic introduction to the subject will also benefit.
Note:
An advanced course on VAT will run on 25 September 2012. This will build on the knowledge gained on the basic course.
