An education in VAT for Welsh colleges

28.09.2011

Following the success of their Higher Education VAT Forum, Centurion VAT Specialists have launched a similar event for Further Education establishments in Wales.

Centurion will be holding the first Welsh Further Education VAT Forum, on Tuesday 4th October in Coleg Powys, Llandrindod Wells.

The event, which is free to attend, will give college finance teams the chance to share VAT best practice, discuss issues facing their sector and also benefit from Centurion’s expertise.

Centurion Director, Alan Maher, said: “We have been running our Higher Education Forum for 14 years and we have seen the positive impact that it has had and aim to replicate that success for colleges.

“We hope that this forum will be the perfect opportunity to create a voice for VAT for the further education sector in Wales. By looking at issues impacting their field, such as the cost sharing consultation, we hope to be able to develop a joined up approach, enabling college’s to benefit from the systems in place wherever possible. Such has been the interest in the Forum we already have representatives from 80% of the FE Colleges in Wales attending as well as from Colegau Cymru.”

Centurion VAT Specialists was originally set up by the University of Wales, Newport, in 1998, in order to help the higher education sector handle the complexities of VAT.

In 2007 it became an owner managed consultancy and has since expanded its VAT service offering across the public and corporate sector in Wales, identifying ways in which VAT can be used to improve cash flow and create savings for businesses on a contingency fee basis.
